Black Friday Running Shoes Australia 2026: What’s Worth Buying
Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November, and it’s become the biggest sale moment before summer running season kicks off in Perth. If you’ve been holding out on new running shoes, a GPS watch or a belt that actually stops your phone bouncing, this is a sensible time to buy. It’s also a time when it’s easy to spend money on things you don’t need.
This guide is for everyday runners, walkers and beginners shopping for Black Friday running shoes in Australia, not people chasing carbon-plated racers. We’ve picked mid-price shoes, budget-friendly watches and the small kit that makes a 5:30am run along the Swan River or Cottesloe a lot more comfortable. We’ll also show you how to tell a real deal from a dressed-up one.
Information checked October 2026. Prices change daily, especially during sales, so treat every price below as a starting point and check it on the day.
When are Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2026 in Australia?
Black Friday is the Friday after US Thanksgiving. In 2026 that’s Friday 27 November, with Cyber Monday on 30 November. According to Public Holidays Australia, some sales only last the day, but many stores run them through the final weekend of November.
In practice, the sale period is longer than one weekend. ShopBack’s Black Friday 2026 sale calendar expects these windows, based on previous years (retailers haven’t confirmed them yet):
- Click Frenzy: around 10 to 12 November
- Amazon Australia early deals: around 18 to 20 November
- Nike and Adidas Australia: starting around Tuesday 24 November
- Peak sale period: Friday 27 to Monday 30 November
We’ll update this page as retailers confirm their dates.
Before you buy: how to spot a genuine running gear deal
A big red “40% off” sticker doesn’t mean much on its own. In a sweep of Black Friday advertising, the ACCC flagged potentially misleading “was/now” pricing, “site wide” discounts that weren’t site wide, and savings calculated from a recommended retail price rather than what the item normally sells for. It also noted products advertised as “on sale” at their usual price (iTWire, December 2024).
A few simple habits help:
- Write down today’s price. Note the price of anything you’re eyeing now, in October. That’s your real baseline when the sale starts. The prices in this guide give you a head start.
- Compare across retailers. The same watch can vary by $80 or more between stores on an ordinary day.
- Read the fine print. Check for member-only pricing, excluded brands and limited sizes.
- Buy what you’d buy anyway. A deal on a shoe that doesn’t suit your feet isn’t a deal.
Do you still get refunds on sale items?
Yes, if the item is faulty. The ACCC’s guidance on repairs, replacements and refunds says businesses can’t remove your rights for faulty goods, and “no refunds on sale items” policies that deny those rights are illegal. The ACCC has also warned retailers that sale prices don’t change this.
Change of mind is different. If shoes simply feel wrong after a week, you’re relying on the retailer’s own returns policy, so check it before you buy, especially online.
Best running shoes to look for this Black Friday
For most Perth runners doing parkrun, social club runs and the odd 10km, a comfortable daily trainer is all you need. Pricier “super shoes” are built for racing and aren’t necessary to enjoy running or to finish an event.
These are daily trainers from our running shop, sitting roughly in the $130 to $190 mid-price range. Prices are as listed in the shop when we checked in late October 2026.
| Shoe | Best for | Price when checked |
|---|---|---|
| New Balance Women’s DynaSoft Pro Run V2 | Budget-conscious beginners | $130.00 |
| Adidas Men’s Supernova Ease | Easy daily kilometres | $150.00 |
| Brooks Women’s Anthem 7 | Neutral everyday running | $167.27 |
| Nike Men’s Air Zoom Structure 25 | Runners wanting stability | $169.95 |
| Saucony Women’s Echelon 10 | Everyday comfort | $177.00 |
| New Balance Women’s Fresh Foam X 1080 v14 | Cushioned longer runs | $177.44 |
| Nike Women’s Air Zoom Pegasus 41 | All-rounder | $189.95 |
Our quick take on each
- New Balance DynaSoft Pro Run V2: the lowest-priced shoe on this list, and a sensible first pair if you’re starting out with a couch-to-5km plan.
- Adidas Supernova Ease: a simple daily trainer at $150. Worth a look if it drops further in the sale.
- Brooks Anthem 7: a neutral shoe from a brand many runners already trust for fit.
- Nike Air Zoom Structure 25: a stability shoe. Consider it if you’ve been told your feet roll inwards.
- Saucony Echelon 10: a mid-price option to try if other brands haven’t fitted well.
- New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080 v14: a cushioned shoe for longer runs. The women’s v13 was listed at $249.95 in our shop, so the newer v14 stood out at under $180.
- Nike Pegasus 41: a long-running all-rounder and a safe choice if you just want one shoe that does everything.
How do you choose the right running shoe?
Comfort matters far more than colour or brand. Specialist running store InTraining suggests trying at least three shoes, ideally from different brands, and actually running in them rather than walking around the shop (InTraining shoe guide). Models also change between versions, so last year’s favourite may feel different this year.
If you’re new to running, or you’ve had shin or knee niggles, a fitting at a specialist store or a chat with a podiatrist or physio before the sales is money well spent. You can then hunt for that exact model on sale with confidence.
Best budget GPS watches and fitness trackers
You don’t need a GPS watch to run. Plenty of club runners use their phone, or nothing at all. But if you want to track your pace and distance without carrying a phone, these are the options worth watching. Prices are as listed in our shop when we checked.
| Device | Best for | Key specs | Price when checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi Smart Band 10 | Basic tracking on a tight budget | Fitness band, not a full running watch | $69.00 |
| Garmin Forerunner 165 | First proper running watch | AMOLED screen, up to 11 days smartwatch, up to 19 hours GPS, 39g | $348.00 |
| COROS PACE 3 | Long battery life, light weight | About 15 days daily use, up to 38 hours GPS, 29-30g (nylon band) | $389.00 |
| Garmin Forerunner 265 | Runners training for events | Step up from the 165 | $599.00 |
Which GPS watch is best value?
For most beginners and social runners, the Garmin Forerunner 165 is the one to watch this Black Friday. Released in February 2024, it has a 1.2-inch AMOLED display, up to 11 days of battery in smartwatch mode and up to 19 hours in GPS mode (Gadgets & Wearables specs). As a price check, The Running Company listed it at $429 when we checked, while our shop’s listing was $348. That gap is exactly why it pays to compare before you buy.
The COROS PACE 3 suits you if battery life matters most. COROS lists about 15 days of daily use and up to 38 hours of continuous standard GPS, at around 30g. It’s a good pick for trail runners and anyone who forgets to charge things.
The Xiaomi Smart Band 10 is the budget choice if you mainly want step counts, heart rate and reminders to move, rather than detailed running data.
Small running gear worth buying on sale

What’s not worth buying on Black Friday?
Some things are better skipped, even at a discount:
- Carbon-plated racing shoes unless you’re training for a specific race and already know they suit you.
- A shoe you’ve never tried on from a brand you’ve never worn, with a strict no-returns policy.
- A top-tier watch when you’ll only use the pace and distance screens.
- Bulk supplements you haven’t tried before. Test gels and electrolytes on training runs first.
A simple Black Friday plan for runners
- Now (October): get fitted or try shoes on, choose your model and size, and note current prices.
- Early to mid November: watch Click Frenzy and early deals for your shortlist.
- 27 to 30 November: compare your noted prices against sale prices, and buy if it’s a genuine saving.
- After you buy: keep your receipt and check the returns window, then break new shoes in on shorter runs first.

Black Friday running deals FAQ
When is Black Friday 2026 in Australia?
Black Friday 2026 is on Friday 27 November, and Cyber Monday is on Monday 30 November. Many Australian retailers start their sales earlier in the week and continue them across the weekend.
Is Black Friday a good time to buy running shoes?
It can be, especially for previous-season models and mid-price daily trainers. The key is knowing the normal price beforehand, so note what your chosen shoe costs in October and compare it during the sale.
Is Black Friday or Boxing Day better for running gear?
Boxing Day is still Australia’s main sales day, but Black Friday has grown each year. Buying in late November means you have new shoes or a watch before peak summer and the Christmas break.
Can I return running shoes bought on sale?
If they’re faulty, yes. Under Australian Consumer Law a “no refunds on sale items” policy doesn’t override your rights. If you’ve just changed your mind, it depends on the retailer’s own returns policy, so check it first.
What’s a good first GPS watch for running?
The Garmin Forerunner 165 is a popular first running watch, with up to 19 hours of GPS battery. The COROS PACE 3 offers longer battery life. If you only want basic tracking, a fitness band like the Xiaomi Smart Band 10 costs far less.
Do I need expensive shoes to start running?
No. A comfortable, well-fitting daily trainer in the $130 to $190 range is plenty for parkrun, social runs and 5 to 10km events. Fit and comfort matter more than price.
